Welcome to the website for the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN) Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention Program. We hope that the information presented on this website will provide you valuable information in better understanding the uniqueness of our team and the services we offer.

The CINN Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention Program specializes in the treatment of patients suffering from vascular diseases such as aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cerebrovascular ischemia, and carotid artery disease, to name a few. CINN offers comprehensive treatment of these disorders either endovascularly, by threading a catheter through the body’s blood vessels; using a conventional surgical approach; with stereotactic radiosurgery, or a combination of the three. Our program brings together the expertise of the first and only fellowship-trained endovascular neurosurgeon in Chicago with new technology, including: a magnetically controlled system to enter the brain and its vascular system,
new stents designed specifically for the brain
coils that are coated with biologically active material designed to create scar and connective tissue within the aneurysm to enhance the healing process.
carotid stenting with distal protection devices
hydrocoils that allow increased packing of cerebral aneurysms
clot retrieval devices (In Time) on the management of acute strokes

CINN’s Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention Program participates in many clinical research studies and is always at the leading-edge of new procedures and treatments.

Many vascular problems are complicated and may require different combinations of medical, surgical and endovascular treatments for the best outcome. Our goal is always to offer patients the most effective, minimally invasive treatments with the lowest risk. The CINN Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention Program offers a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach with a highly experienced team, comprised of neurosurgeons, neurologists, an interventional neuroradiologist, cardiology, neuro-anesthesiologists, nurses, and a full-service rehabilitation team.

If you would like more information on this program, please call 800/ 411-CINN (2466).

Sincerely,
Demetrius K. Lopes, M.D.
