We all are pioneers, and ambassadors, and educators.
We all are learning about our FMD, at the same time we are learning to accept the pain it causes, and the limitations it creates. We are doing it. Sometimes we laugh, other times we cry – but we are doing it.
We are sharing our stories, our experiences, and wisdom. We are helping each other to find medical care, and teaching each other what to look for. This is good. This is not ‘dwelling’ on our ‘troubles’ – this is important work.
We are researching, and working to gain attention for FMD. We are showing people that FMD is a major health problem – that FMD research is desperately required, and that policy-makers and our doctors must be educated.
We are bringing our ‘stories’ to the world – just like the first patients did with Lou Gehrig’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and fibromyalgia (which can be caused by FMD). They did it because they had to do it – and so will we.
We all are pioneers, and ambassadors, and educators. Without us, FMD will not get the attention it needs.
We may think that no one is listening, but our stories count, and our voices will be heard.
Thank you all for being here,
Lanie
